Denise has been a fitness enthusiast in one form or another for most of her life. Growing up, swimming was her passion, but once she was a mom with three young kids, laps in the pool were much harder to fit in. Enter a gym with childcare, where Denise first discovered a curiosity for all of the awesome equipment and creative ways she could use that equipment to stay in shape and have fun while doing it. Soon Denise started working out with other moms at the gym and creating workouts for them to do together. A trainer who worked at the gym mentioned that CrossFit might be a good fit for Denise and introduced her to a friend who was a CrossFit coach – an introduction that changed her life! From her first CrossFit class, Denise was hooked! She thought she was in pretty good shape when she stepped through the door, but the CrossFit philosophy of “constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity” was a game-changer for her.
Denise has been doing CrossFit since 2014, and joined Boulder CrossFit when she moved to Boulder in 2017. She was thrilled to find a CrossFit gym with awesome coaches and an inclusive culture – and one that would allow her daughters (who, at 12 and 15, started CrossFit not long after Denise did and still do CrossFit today) to attend classes with her.
Today, Denise is an L1 CrossFit Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer at Boulder CrossFit – and as a 50+ athlete, she is passionate about helping everyone, no matter their age or level of fitness, find their inner athlete. Whether it’s in a CrossFit class or a one-on-one session, Denise’s goal as a coach is to help you live your best life: to be able to safely get up off the floor if you fall, chase after your children without getting winded, get out of bed on your own as you get older, climb stairs easily, and just be able to do the things that you want to do!
